I really don’t like focusing on negative things, but this really cracked me up. It’s been bugging me that some person went onto the iTunes page for our new album and left a crappy review because he/she didn’t like us at the AC/DC show. On the bright side, the review clearly states that we OPENED FOR AC/DC so that’s pretty sweet. But the negative review still bugged me. And then I saw this.. Read »

For the past two weeks or so, I’ve been hard at work turning megaphone rock songs into video game awesomeness. You’ve heard of the game Rock Band…right? Oh you actually do live under a rock? Weird… Read »

No, this isn’t a post about relationships. My girlfriend probably wouldn’t appreciate that much. As you can probably tell from the picture, it’s about a weird contraption that you step on, otherwise known as a “kick pedal.” “What’s that,” you ask. “No I didn’t ask that,” you say, “get on with it.” Sorry but not everyone is as brilliant as you.
The kick pedal is what a drummer uses to hit the kick, or bass, drum. The one in the picture is the same kind that I use. In fact, I’ve used the same one for about 8 years. So what’s the deal with “being single?” Let me show you what some people use. Read »

I’m not sure how strange it is for someone in a band to write a review of a show that they played, but I think I have a pretty unique perspective, and I’d like to tell you about it, so here goes.
***DISCLAIMER*** I do not claim to be a professional writer, or music critic. I also do not think that I am too cool to like music that has the ability to appeal to the mainstream. If I did, I would probably have a job as a professional writer and music critic. Read »

We officially announced the title of the next megaphone album on WJRR’s Native Noise a couple weeks ago. In case you missed it, it’s going to be called “EXIT SILENT MODE.” We tossed around a few ideas for a while but finally settled on this for a few reasons…but that’s another blog post. After a lot of internal back-and-forth, we also nailed down the track listing, so without further ado, here it is! Read »

If you’re a fan of rock music and you’re in the Orlando area, there is a show coming up that you absolutely can’t miss. Next Saturday, May 23rd, the House of Blues is hosting the Social Ghost album release show. Those guys are good friends of ours and they know how to bring the rock. Their new album, “War Without a Gun” has been a long time coming (sounds kind of familiar, right?!) and it promises to be AWESOME!
They’re even offering free tickets on their Myspace. Without one of those tickets, it’s $5 at the door so I’d recommend you get some free ones. Also on the bill is Transmit Now, Fall of Envy and Afterglow Radio. In short, get your asses to Downtown Disney and support some of the best rock bands in town!

I’ve been a big fan of Jimmy Eat World since Bleed American in 2001. After I got into that album, I got Clarity (their previous album) and loved that one too. It’s hard to believe, but Clarity was released 10 years ago. To commemorate the release, they did a small tour where they played the entire album from beginning to end (with other songs thrown in, I’m sure). They recorded the last show of the tour and recently released it as a live album.
The cool part about this to me is that these guys obviously still believe in their old material enough to embrace it…unlike some bands I know who act like it’s a chore to have to play the songs that made them big. No names…but if you know me then you probably know who I’m talking about.
Anyways, I highly recommend getting this album. It’s only $8.99 at jimmyeatworld.com. You get 15 tracks, a digital booklet, digital poster, photos, and you can choose from high-quality mp3, Apple Lossless, FLAC, or two different WAVs (I got the mp3’s). Go buy it!

I’m about to rant a little. Please consider yourself warned that this blog is about to get a little negative, and I’m sorry for that. The thing is, this really needs to be said, and i think by saying it before April 9th (the date of our next battle of the bands), I may be able to avoid looking either like a pretentious prick, or a sore loser, so here we go. It’s been a while since we had any news about the album so a lot of you have probably been wondering what’s up. Basically, we’ve been done with tracking for a couple of weeks now and we’re just trying to get it mixed. There have been some conflicts, both with scheduling and finances. We’re at the point of looking under couch cushions for loose change, but that’s because making an amazing rock album is not cheap! Trust me, when you hear it, you will understand why. This album is going to rock your socks off and the wait will be well worth it.
The mixing is scheduled to begin on April 6th with Pete Thornton (no, not the guy from MacGyver). He’s worked with the likes of Paramore, Between the Trees, Shinedown, etc. so we’re extremely excited to be working with him. He’s already mixed “Gravitate” which can be found on the Rock Pink Myspace and it sounds badass. So anyways, that’s where we’re at right now. Hopefully we’ll have more updates soon! (In case you were wondering, no, that picture is not related to the album artwork. I just made it and thought it was cute…)
