I’m not sure how strange it is for someone in a band to write a review of a show that they played, but I think I have a pretty unique perspective, and I’d like to tell you about it, so here goes.

***DISCLAIMER*** I do not claim to be a professional writer, or music critic.  I also do not think that I am too cool to like music that has the ability to appeal to the mainstream.  If I did, I would probably have a job as a professional writer and music critic. Read »

If you’re a fan of rock music and you’re in the Orlando area, there is a show coming up that you absolutely can’t miss. Next Saturday, May 23rd, the House of Blues is hosting the Social Ghost album release show. Those guys are good friends of ours and they know how to bring the rock. Their new album, “War Without a Gun” has been a long time coming (sounds kind of familiar, right?!) and it promises to be AWESOME!

They’re even offering free tickets on their Myspace. Without one of those tickets, it’s $5 at the door so I’d recommend you get some free ones. Also on the bill is Transmit Now, Fall of Envy and Afterglow Radio. In short, get your asses to Downtown Disney and support some of the best rock bands in town!

I thought this was pretty cool, and i had to post it.  Our good friend and lighting director Mark Tringali programmed the Christmas lights on his house to the music he had pumping out of the speakers set up in the front yard.  One of the tunes that he used was megaphone’s “The Perfect Gift” (which is still available on iTunes and would be a great addition to your holiday playlist next year!).  Here’s the video.

I’ve been listening to a podcast called The Musician’s Cooler for a little over a year thanks to James. Today I heard a story that really freaked me out. There’s a band called Mobile that, obviously, secured the MySpace URL myspace.com/mobile a couple of years ago. Rather than build their own web site, they simply built up their MySpace page and pointed everyone interested in the band there. Big mistake. Read »

If you read Matt’s post about Mulch Sweat n’ Shears, then you know that he rocks the drums for a living. Guess who else does.

That’s right, ME! Well, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a living. I’m one of Bloodwell’s subs out at Hollywood Studios so I’m not there every day. He has about 4 subs that he can call if he needs a day off or just a couple of sets covered. It’s a pretty awesome gig but it was something that I wasn’t really sure I’d be able to handle. Read »

December 07,2008

I’ve been blogging for a little over a year. I used to work for a company that helped people monetize their blogs so I learned a lot about how blogs work and what they’re supposed to accomplish. Then my buddy and I started Average-Dudes, a blog that was originally going to give reviews of products but has pretty much turned into a mish-mash of randomness.

Because I’ve done this for a while, I tend to take that knowledge for granted and sometimes I don’t realize that there are a lot of people out there that don’t even know what the word “blog” means. If you already know, then this post probably won’t help you. If you don’t, then read on and I’ll try my best to explain how to navigate this thing and what to expect out of it in the future. Read »

Well here it is. The new megaphone blog. It took me two full days to set it up (with some wonderful help from my good friend Dyna) but it’s finally running. The point of this thing is for us to be able to communicate what’s going on in our lives to anyone who wants to read it. You can even leave your thoughts by adding comments to each post. Just click on the post’s title and you’ll see a place to fill in your name, email address, a website URL, and your comments. That’s all for now. Check back frequently for updates and leave us some comments!
