G4 TV did a segment about the PAX East conference, a video game conference in Boston. As they were talking with Harmonix about the new Rock Band Network, they showed clips of someone scrolling through the store menu alphabetically and Not Your Enemy and Disaster are right next to each other. It was really quick but we noticed it. Later, they showed another clip of someone scrolling through artists and it showed “megaphone” with all three songs underneath.

Every once in a while in the Rock Band blog, the Harmonix developers pick their favorite RBN songs. One of them picked Gravitate. Here’s what they said: megaphone - “Gravitate” - I really like the chorus on “Gravitate”. There’s a cool guitar riff that kicks it off each time, and the melody is just fun to sing.

Check out their blog here!

I really don’t like focusing on negative things, but this really cracked me up. It’s been bugging me that some person went onto the iTunes page for our new album and left a crappy review because he/she didn’t like us at the AC/DC show. On the bright side, the review clearly states that we OPENED FOR AC/DC so that’s pretty sweet. But the negative review still bugged me. And then I saw this.. Read »

no photoshop here!

Now this is some funny shit!  In case you didn’t know, when I’m not rockin’ out with megaphone, I pay bills as a freelance lighting director.  In that line of work, there’s really no better way to make the big bucks than to work in the corporate market, lighting everything from dinner parties to big corporate general sessions.  So here I am working a show for Lockheed Martin, with a production company that I’ve never worked for before, next to a sound engineer that I just met.  In our conversation, of course I mention that I play guitar in an unsigned band (I’m not afraid of some shameless self promotion!) called megaphone.  He says, “If you’re a guitar player, you might find this funny” and opens up his laptop to show me this picture. For the past two weeks or so, I’ve been hard at work turning megaphone rock songs into video game awesomeness. You’ve heard of the game Rock Band…right? Oh you actually do live under a rock? Weird… Read »

We officially announced the title of the next megaphone album on WJRR’s Native Noise a couple weeks ago. In case you missed it, it’s going to be called “EXIT SILENT MODE.” We tossed around a few ideas for a while but finally settled on this for a few reasons…but that’s another blog post. After a lot of internal back-and-forth, we also nailed down the track listing, so without further ado, here it is! Read »

I’m about to rant a little.  Please consider yourself warned that this blog is about to get a little negative, and I’m sorry for that.  The thing is, this really needs to be said, and i think by saying it before April 9th (the date of our next battle of the bands), I may be able to avoid looking either like a pretentious prick, or a sore loser, so here we go. It’s been a while since we had any news about the album so a lot of you have probably been wondering what’s up. Basically, we’ve been done with tracking for a couple of weeks now and we’re just trying to get it mixed. There have been some conflicts, both with scheduling and finances. We’re at the point of looking under couch cushions for loose change, but that’s because making an amazing rock album is not cheap! Trust me, when you hear it, you will understand why. This album is going to rock your socks off and the wait will be well worth it.

The mixing is scheduled to begin on April 6th with Pete Thornton (no, not the guy from MacGyver). He’s worked with the likes of Paramore, Between the Trees, Shinedown, etc. so we’re extremely excited to be working with him. He’s already mixed “Gravitate” which can be found on the Rock Pink Myspace and it sounds badass. So anyways, that’s where we’re at right now. Hopefully we’ll have more updates soon! (In case you were wondering, no, that picture is not related to the album artwork. I just made it and thought it was cute…)
