If you read Matt’s post about Mulch Sweat n’ Shears, then you know that he rocks the drums for a living. Guess who else does.
That’s right, ME! Well, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a living. I’m one of Bloodwell’s subs out at Hollywood Studios so I’m not there every day. He has about 4 subs that he can call if he needs a day off or just a couple of sets covered. It’s a pretty awesome gig but it was something that I wasn’t really sure I’d be able to handle.
I’ve played drums for roughly 9 years. In that relatively long span of time, not once have I ever been handed a microphone and asked to sing while playing. When I called to schedule an audition for Mulch, I about crapped my pants because I was told I’d have to sing lead on Van Halen’s “Jump” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire.” I guess when the full-time drummer is also a badass singer, they would like to have subs that can do the same. Luckily for me, they were very understanding about my lack of singing experience and just let me try a back-up vocal part to see if I had the ability.
Since then, I’ve gradually worked up to singing some lead parts. Granted, I only sing like one verse in a couple of songs, but this is new territory for me. I’m not quite belting out Zeppelin yet (like Matt does), but I think I’m doing alright.
So that’s about it. I just wanted to plug Mulch again since a lot of people really enjoy the show. If you ever make it to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios), check out Mulch Sweat n’ Shears…and don’t laugh at me. I’m sensitive. End of plug.

Hey Jenn, here’s a link to a youtube video of scott playing. Another thing to note in this video is the guitar player in this one is Rick Bailey. He co-wrote some of the songs on megaphone’s first CD, for cryin’ out loud.
